I went to Samarkand and Buchara (Central Asia, Tajikistan) in the late 1980s… what an adventure in those days. These pieces are inspired by all those mosaics I saw there. Most of the yarn is hand dyed (see a few posts ago, Wooly Business …). There were a lot of threads to be sewn in, with all that intarsia! The waistcoat is made from cotton and it was a really nice fit… it had a fitted waist, nicely shaped armhole, neckline… I wonder what happened to it?
