Happy Days on the Beach

It is that time of year for the annual camping trip on the beach!!! We went to the South Coast for a few days. One very surprising pleasure was the car trip! I never thought I’d say this, but there you go. The traffic was awful, but we were so cheerful, taking turns in choosing music from the i-pod, cracking jokes, telling the children family lore, discussing current affairs, just how things should be in family, wow!

Here is a little taste of what it was like to wonder along “our” beach at 8pm. DSCN4996DSCN5004DSCN5009

And when I say we stayed at the beach, that is really what I mean, we were so very close to the water!      DSCN5070 DSCN5071

Setting up camp took no time, everybody was helping, and everybody can do it with their eyes shut by now. DSCN5072That little black box (whoops, cut out of the photo, I am referring to our mini Weber bbq called ‘go anywhere’ or something like it) was great to cook with: we had ribs, fish that Patrick caught – anything – and after the food had been removed from the black box, I put bread rolls on… hmmm!

And what was really nice, was chatting to other campers. We have been to the same campsite for years now, say 8 years?! We grow old, our kids get older, we mellow, we go through similar stages of life at our own pace… we get older parallel with all these people who come year in year our to this same place, loving it just as much as we do – I guess that is what we have in common, which creates a strange kind of bond. I don’t know may people’s name, but there is this strange familiarity amongst us, who are from all walks of life, living all sorts of different lives.

And the neighbors were lovely, caring and relaxed.DSCN5062DSCN5058DSCN5050 See?

Tomorrow I will post some photos of how The Quilt is progressing – that’s what I took with me to work on… no patterns, no counting, no worries…

Happy New Year all, and Best Wishes for 2013!

Thank you for stopping by, thank you for your comments and thank you for all the new connections I have been able to make through this blog and following others’.
